Ada was full of life and aspiration. Very youthful and vibrant.
After her university studies, she went into skills and she learnt catering and decorations. She started a business and she started grooming it.
She thought to her self is time to take the next step. "Marriage"
Let me ask must everyone get married? Because this a journey that you can only pray for the best but most times you are afraid of the unknown. Many go into it become better and influential and many go into it and become marred and crushed.
Ada married an Ibo man who believe that he is going to use her to brag that she is educated and sound but never wanted her to go higher than him because of fear. First mistake never marry a man not on the same level with you. Intimidation and fear of losing you will later turn to anger and hate.
He opened a shop for her but refused to set her up. She started little by little but instead of encouring her, he will always talk her down and make her feel less of herself before you know it Ada lost her self esteem. She will always wait for her husband's approval to do anything. Whenever she stands on her ground it will always result to a fight.
While fighting she lost her first pregnancy and was forced into surgery to save her life and her womb but with all the sermons and interference of clergies and family members to make the marriage work it never did.
Rather she lost countless pregnancies because of negligence and emotional torture.
After so many years of trying. She became very ill and was always in and out of the hospital. She has resigned to faith but kept on believing God for a miracle.
Her husband and the family gave up supporting and told the husband to leave her alone to start a new life. He succumbed and left a dying wife with the family. The family tried all they could and one day after so many years of pains and suffering. She went for intensive care in the hospital with support and help from families and friends with prayers and supplications from her pastors she survived.
Before that she has persistently told the husband that he should accept his bride price back so both of them will go their different ways but he has refused. Now she is healthy and with scars but refused to be crushed.
They have been separated for years now and she has made up her mind that she has forgiven him but will never go back to that marriage.
If you are given a second chance to life like Ada. What would you do differently?
